5 T’S W hat a joy it is to work with all of you in the charter school movement. It has been a great year at the association and I have been honored to serve as the board chair of UAPCS. We have undergone many structural changes over the last year, which I believe have and will continue to strengthen the Association and the charter school movement as a whole. The board and staff have been developing a clear, actionable, strategic plan for this association. As we have worked diligently on this project, two things continue to stand out to me; how far we have come and how much we can accomplish. A pilot program of eight charter schools has now grown to more than 80. You now serve more than 40,000 students across the state. I stand in awe of the great work that you all do. While we have grown drastically over the last twelve years, we don’t want to slow down. In fact we want that growth to continue as I truly believe that when we create more options for parents, education for all Utah chil- dren improves. With the structural changes we’ve made over the last year, we strongly believe that we have the right tools in place to move charter schools and the association to the next level. We are committed to serving board members, directors, partnering with organizations to assist in professional development for your teachers, and delivering the focused advocacy in support of the charter school movement that you expect.
