Pub. 5 2015-2016 Issue 2

4 Welcome! You’ll notice, that this spring Charterology issue is a little different than the last. That’s because we’ve devoted every single page to summarizing the 2016 Legislative Session and the advocacy work UAPCS performed on behalf of charter students and charter schools across the state. This year’s Legislative Session came and went at breakneck speed. A record number of bills were introduced, with only 45 days to examine, debate, and take action. Hundreds of bills passed and found their way to Governor Herbert’s desk, and hundreds more died somewhere during the legislative process. It’s our hope that this issue will serve as a reference point for everything you need to know regarding policy changes, new program implementation, and increases to education funding. We’re extremely proud of the success the charter community and UAPCS were able to accomplish during just a few short weeks, and are excited to share the new and exciting opportunities that await charter schools. —UAPCS Staff
