Our actions are guided by fairness and respect through transparency, effective communi- cation and the building of positive relationships with each other and our stakeholders. • Autonomy - We understand that autonomy is an essential require- ment for innovation, experimen- tation and diverse approaches to educating students. We encourage and support charter school autonomy with account- ability and work with schools to ensure that they stay true to their charters. • Innovation - We foster the devel- opment of a vibrant, diverse and sustainable statewide system of high performing public charter schools that foster innovation and experimentation. We work to share successful charter school educational innovations with other public schools. • Choice - We provide choice for parents and students and leverage limited resources to provide the best possible education experience for school children. • Accountability - We hold schools accountable for the education of their students and their steward- ship of public funds. As a board, we hold ourselves accountable for our responsibility to oversee charter schools. • Excellence - We are committed to superior results and engage in practices that produce the highest quality outcomes in all our endeavors. We are advocates for high quality charter schools. We encourage the growth and expansion of successful high per- forming charter schools and work with low performing schools to identify and make necessary improvements. • Collaboration - We work collab- oratively with the State Board of Education, the State Legislature, local school district boards of education, Charter school asso- ciations, and other educational agencies and organizations to share ideas and to secure funding and other support.
