6 Royce Van Tassell brings a wealth of experience to the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools, having previously served in a variety of positions with the Utah Taxpayers Association, Parents for Choice in Education, the American Civil Rights Institute and the Pacific Research Institute. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from BYU, and did graduate studies in political economy at Utah State University. Debby graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Family and Human Development. She is currently a licensed Social Worker for the State of Utah. Debby volunteers frequently at the charter school her children attend and has been actively involved with charter schools since 2006. She has served as FSO (PTO) chair as well as board chair at her childrens’ school. Joylin Lincoln received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University in 1994, and has maintained a Utah state teaching license since graduation. During the last 14 years she has been extremely involved with her children’s education, and spent the last 10 years working with charter schools. She has taught classes at The Utah Charter Conference, provided training for several charter schools. She was instrumental in starting the training and mentoring program at UAPCS. While still early in his career, Erik Roan has made a name for himself in the education and arts sectors with his work in programming, public affairs, policy development, and organizational development. Prior to joining UAPCS in 2017, Erik held a position in the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. He is an accomplished state and local political consultant, advising on public relations strategy for nonprofit, private, and government entities and currently serves on the Board of Directors for SALT Contemporary Dance. Ashly Jeppson Previously worked in hospitality and manufacturing where she excelled in providing administrative support to managers and executives. She has a passion for choice in education and is excited about progressing the charter school movement. Ashly loves spending quality time with her daughter, camping, hiking, and restoring furniture and homes.
